Primary Health Care
The Primary Health Care Program consists of a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals who work in collaboration with other programs offered by MBCHCH. Services include: preventative health care, treatment of chronic and episodic illnesses, mental health counselling, service navigation and referrals, access to phlebotomy, and more. All MBCHCH services are free.
Primary health care (PHC) is the foundation of a well-functioning healthcare system. It focuses on preventive care, early diagnosis, treatment of acute and chronic illnesses, health education, and coordination of care. PHC providers act as a patient’s “health-care home,” offering continuous and comprehensive care for all ages, from children to seniors, and addressing physical, mental, and behavioral health needs.
